So as usual, I'll tell 4.0 things I liked about the book and 1.0 thing I didn't like.

Review:

+1 | The idea and premise is brilliant and intriguing. The world is well thought out with so many things I want to know more of!

+1 | Entertainment value. With the layer of crime added in, I was at the edge of my seat enjoying everything.

+1 | The characters were layered and oh so very different from anything I've read in quite some time


+1  | The pace is well thought out making it a quick read (not just for it's shortness), and the writing fit the mood and vibe of the book perfectly.

-1  | I want more. You might think that's a good thing, which it partially is, but I wasn't exactly left completely satisfied when this book ended. I knew it was short, but I wanted to know more!

Why I Post & Read

This is a slightly odd one, but I get asked why read and post.

I've said it before, but I started writing to express my feelings and clear out my thoughts on books.
Another reason is to keep myself accountable and organized in the challenges I try.

Overall I read to learn and just for enjoyment. The thing is though, I recommend expanding what you read, even though you're content in what you're reading.

So yes, I read books in Finnish and English and I've reviewed books in English that are only out in Finnish for that reason. Trying to expand what I read and maybe inspire you to do so as well.

Little White Lies by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

SUMMARY

When I heard Jennifer Lynn Barnes was releasing a new book I immediately added it to my to read, without even reading the synopsis - just the title. I loved The Naturals series (ignoring the first book) and was hesitant to anticipate it too much, but gladly started the book. But onto the review.

Stars: ✦✦✦✦✧

So as usual, I'll tell 4.0 things I liked about the book and 1.0 thing I didn't like.

So what did I think?

+1 | The characters were well done, with every layer of them thought out and new revelations always there.

+1 | Similar to the previous point, the friendships and all relationships were artfully woven together.

+1 | Simply put, the writing. The dual timeline worked well, unlike lots I've previously read of.

+1  | Probably my main point: anticipation, surprises and as a reader not knowing what would happen - or assuming wrong.

- 1  | The book felt slightly dragged - but the audiobook took care of that (also making it quite interesting with the strong Southern accents).
