SUMMARY:
He's no prince, but he sure is charming.
Daisy is an offbeat 16-year-old with a perfect older sister who's nearly engaged to the Crown Prince of Scotland.
Daisy has no desire to live in the spotlight, but tabloids force her to join Ellie at the castle across the pond - where the dashing Miles has been appointed to teach Daisy the ropes of being regal, and the prince's roguish brother kicks up scandal.

So what did I think?

The idea and entertainment value is exactly as it sounds: a fun fluffy romance with Hakwkins' humor. The characters are enjoyable and and the royal world well executed. After reading six other books by her, it did not let me down and for anyone thinking of picking it up: do!

I. Best color combo on a book cover

I’ve said it before and I'll say it again: Isla and the Happily Ever After is one of my all time favorite covers with it's colors, contrast, simplicity and details.

- - -

II. Best typography/font on a book cover

17118898
link to book

Slightly cheating, but in 1984 the fact that the text has been drawn over fits the book so perfectly

- - -

III. Best simple cover

I could go with some of the white covers that I love, but I think The Hunger Game foil edition counts as simple - since it only has one color and all...

- - -

IV. Best endpages

link to book

Fairest by Marissa Meyer has a gorgeous illustration on the inside of the sover

- - -

V. Best map

link to book

Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson

- - -

VI. Best naked hardback

link to book

Niemi by Juha Hurme has such a beautiful cover,

though the dust jacket itself covers only a third of the cover anyway

- - -

VII. Best back cover

link to book

The Harry Potter signature editions have the perfect pictures to match the story in an almost water color style

- - -

VIII. Best chapter headers

link to book

What If? has illustrations that technically aren't for the chapter headings, only, but I'm counting it

- - -

IX. Best illustrations

link to book

Eliza and Her Monsters has illustrations drawn into it in a sketched style that the main character in the story draws for her stories

- - -

X. Best spine

I couldn't choose one, but this is one of my favorite section on my rainbow shelves

- - -

XI. Favorite cover on your shelves

Um, any of the above? If you want another answer check out last weeks post!

Book Cover pt1: Likes

Book cover likes and dislikes
I think we all have those things we find really off-putting on covers, and things that draw us in so here are my top picks:

Best ones I know/have read:
22609310
link to book
Confess: this is a cover I really like and it's a prime example of all the elements I like: the title is bigger than the authors name, it's simplistic yet draws your attention and only when you look at the details do you see everything (unfortunately the details in this one is a hidden face)

Everything, Everything: a similar story, when it comes to the cover, but a bit more busy. Same goes for Nicola Yoon's second book: The Sun is Also a Star. I especially love how the author's name look on the cover.

Stephanie Perkins: now these books I've talked about before and how aesthetically pleasing they are to me. The colors, the contrast and the message of the book is clear.

When it comes to classics I have a whole post about them and buying them, when it comes to all the different editions link.

Stars: ✦✦✦.5
So as usual, I'll tell 3.5 things I liked about the book and 1.5 things I didn't like.

So what did I think?

+1 | The idea is so intriguing - just like what drew me to the first book. I've stated it so many times, and will again: fairytales, I love them.

+1 | The characters were so well thought out, especially with their weaknesses.

+/-0.5 | The pace was perfectly timed and the action gripping, but some of the romances felt rushed.

+/-0.5 | The world and its building was great, yet some bits were left unexplained.

+/-0.5  | The writing was so detailed and beautiful, though it did skip some interesting parts.

- - -

Overall a strong ending to this duology, and I do recommend it to those who enjoyed the first one - or if you're just starting.
