Ruby Red : book vs movie

Rubinrot (2013) Poster
Ruby Red vs. Rubinrot
Book vs. movie (Pt. 2)

This is a book I LoVe! And i was a bit scared to see the movie and seeing changes they might have made. But even so I still finally watched it. Because of these opinions, a bit later.
So the  movie is in German but I watched one with subtitles so that was fine.

So my first thoughts after finishing the movie was pleasantly surprised. I really liked the movie too, although as usual the book was better. They did make quite a lot of changes, more than I thought, but it might have been hard to fit it all in and for the person watching to still understand things.
The ending had drastic changes, which I really liked, when then again the smaller changes I didn't like that much.
I loved the actors and actresses, sceneries and adaptions of the scenes from the book.
I loved the book and I loved the movie, a bit less, but I don't think of them as one story. Does that make sense?
I don't think they will make a movie for the next books but  I would have have loved to see them :) Yet I still haven't read Emerald Green, third and last book, since I'm afraid of ending the series... I love the first two books and the story line So much I can't imagine it ending for me.
Yeah I hope any of this is making any sense for you guys...
So overall I like both but think of them as not one.

Sally

Books Booktube made you read

I'm sure most, if not all of you, already know what Booktube is but if not: it is a YouTube 'community' about all things bookish :)

1. Daughter of Smoke and Bone
2. Fangirl
3. Seriously… I'm Kidding
4. Darkest Minds
5. Eon

All of these I read as recommendations from booktubers. Some I bough without knowing what they were about and just trusting those couple booktubers. And I loved most of them! That is what is so great about this thing!

Darkest Minds : review

10576365
So as you know I got this book from my TBR jar, and so I read it. And really enjoyed it. I wont say I loved it (I'll explain later) but I think I will love the second book Never Fade. I am glad I got this book now since the last book will be coming out this year, and I wanna read the first two before the last one comes out and let me tell ya: I'm excited!

So, what is it about? Well Goodreads starts off by saying this (I left out the spoilery bits):
When Ruby woke up on her tenth birthday, something about her had changed. Something alarming enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that gets her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government "rehabilitation camp." She might have survived the mysterious disease that's killed most of America's children, but she and the others have emerged with something far worse: frightening abilities they cannot control.

Now sixteen, Ruby needs to fight for survival and for the survival of the ones she learns to trust.

In the Afterlight is the last book in this trilogy and it will come out this year! Excitement is overflowing!
Anyway on to thoughts. As I said I didn't LoVe the darkest minds. don't get me wrong I ReAlLy enjoyed it but it had some points I didn't like. So 3.5 stars out of 5 maybe... I'm sure i'll like the next ones more though :)
So I liked its fast pace, slow at times but overall really great.
I liked the language it used but I didn't like the way they were "factioned". The idea was great but the colors threw me off and I was having a hard time remembering them. I ended up writing them on as paper and using it as a bookmark, as I did with Divergent. Yep I have undoubtedly the BeSt memory.
I also had a hard time with the ending. At the same time I liked it and not. It was a bit clichéd but it was still heart breaking, so I liked it. But I found the characters choices a bit iffy. They were um, I don't know what to say or even think about it... I guess It'll get sorted in Never Fade and I'll understand if I liked it, or not.

Read This Month

June

So this month I took two papers from my TBR jar since I had already put Heist Society onto a shelf of  "maybe most of these I'll read this month", so I picked another one :) also I will do this next month to catch up for not taking one in March.
I haven't read that much this month since I've been gone and doing all kinds of stuff (gone to Spain for one week and then two weeks helping someone move) but here are what I did manage:

1. Eon 1/4? I kinda stopped reading it…
2. Heist Society (TBR jar)
3. Strange Angles
4. Leaving Poppy (TBR jar)
5. Wonderful wizard of Oz (CftM)
6. Shades of Earth

Also as for my reading goal for the year, 100 books, in 10 days we are half way through the year. This is why I decided to count how many books I have read to see if I can truly make it. And so ten days to go I have read 47 books out of the, half, 50. So 10 days three books? I think I'll manage :)

So do you guys have goals? If so are you anywhere near?
I think I did a realistic one with a bit of an stretch though. I think that's how it should be so you don't think you've failed at the end :)

Reading More Classics

Sorry or the delay! I am gone suddenly for two weeks again but I should be able to have internet to post these. But I am not 100% sure I can post in time so sorry :)

So I'm trying to read more classics and I started with Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare in January. I am planning to read one classic every month. Please do comment if you have any suggestions on what I should read next, or mail me as you know you always can (and I hope you do).

These are what I've read so far into 2014:
Jan: Romeo and Juliet
Feb: Pride and Prejudice
March: Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass
April: The Crucible
May: Princess Bride
June: Oz

For Julys classic you are able to vote on the side bar! So do check that out and I might be doing th in the future too let's see how it goes. I am not too much into that poll thing-a-bobs but yeah let's see :)

Sally
