Top 5 Wednesday

December 31
books you read this year

How am I supposed to choose 5! You must be kidding me!
Well as you all know I rarely give a book 5 stars so I decided to compile a list of all those from this year. Now many many many books I have given 4.5 stars so they will not all be in this list obviously, even though I LoVeD them! Just keep that in mind... And not all of these I gave 5 stars but a "higher" 4.5 so I put 5 on goodreads (where you can't have halves).
1. Rebel Belle
2. Kiss of Deception
3. Emerald Green
4. Anna and the French Kiss
5. Pride and Prejudice

The One : review

by: Kiera Cass
20572939

I finally finished The One. I was enjoying it but it wasn’t ToO amazing. I wanted to know who America chooses though so I read the last book as well.
Also i just found out that she's continuing the series with a fourth and maybe fifth book!

If you don’t know what it’s about here is what GoodReads says:
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

It’s a perfect story if you like the Bachelor and things like that. What I found annoying though was the main character! America was irritating me by choosing both and then other and then the other! I loved the other one and argh it frustrated me! Was it only me? She could have done things much faster and had everything over with.

I liked the other competitors, I liked hating some that is. And I think she executed well with the plot and got everything to fit nicely.

This book really tied things up and made me like the series all much more. The character building was getting there and towards the end I was gasping while reading.
Hugs,
Sally

Oz : Book vs. Movie

oz the great and powerful movie poster 02
Book vs. Movie (Pt. 6)

As a child when I first saw this movie I was slightly scared to be honest! I found the straw man creepy! That's pretty much everything I remember from wathcing it when I was small...

I decided to read the first book in this series as my classic for some month.
The movie did change a lot of things, but I didn\t mind that much. Both were entertaing and all but as usual the book was better, and this time way better. I was a bit sad about that since the book was so fun to read. It was short and jolly and I was missing that from the movie.

As for the newer movie version Oz the Great and Powerful I really enjoyed that. It was definetly not the same story, not even trying to e, but it was in th esame world with the same(ish) characters. I also really liked how they incorporated scenes from the book that the first movie did not (correct me if I\m wrong). Even so the book was again better.

Which movie did I like better? I\d say the latter. But then again it was not jolly like what I wanted from the first one so am I right to comapre them if they are that different, with different approaches to viewers? I don\t know but on an enjoyment level i\d have to stick to my answer.
Any opinions?
Hugs,
Sally
