Mid Year Reading Survey

2022 Mid-Year Reading Survey Questions:

Well, it is half-way through the year already! I haven't been reading the much, but I still like to do this tag every year.

Best book you’ve read so far in 2022
- I'm not sure yet, though one I enjoyed the most was my reread of the Harry Potter books.

Best sequel you've read so far in 2022
- That would have to be Where the Drowned Girls Go, as it is the only sequel I've read so far this year.

Favourite re-read.
- Well I just answered this for question one, but another great one was The Shadows Between Us

New release you haven't read yet, but want to.
Gilded, still left on my TBR from last year

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.
Final Gambit or My Imaginary Mary

Biggest disappointment.
- Maybe The Hunting Party

Biggest surprise.
- Maybe The Good Girl's Guide to Murder

Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you)
- I don't have an answer for this, since I haven't exactly been reading that much this year

Newest favourite character.
- Way too tough of a question!

Book that made you cry.
- Haven't had one yet this year

Book that made you happy.
- Again, I'll bring up my reread of the Harry Potter series

Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received)
- I haven't bought any, maybe that's why I haven't been reading (that or my stopping of my Audible subscription...)

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
- I'll say A Sky Beyond the Storm, which has been on my list since it came out, but it's a last in a series, which I instinctively seem to postpone

Favourite video or post you've done so far this year.
- Not sure!

Favourite book community members.
- I've been enjoying Kayla's videos on Books and Lala, same answer as last year I believe

Mid-Year Reading Survey

Mid-Year Reading Survey Questions:

Best book you’ve read so far in 2021.
- I'd say The Shadows Between Us, though I also gave the first two Winterborne Home books 5 stars

Best sequel you've read so far in 2021.
- That would be the Winterborne Home for Mayhem and Mysteries then

Favourite re-read.
- Probably Graceling

New release you haven't read yet, but want to.
- My Contrary Mary

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.
- Gilded

Biggest disappointment.
- Maybe Instant Karma and although it wasn't bad by any means, it wasn't like the authors other books (which also makes sense, since it's a different genre)

Biggest surprise.
- Probably Shadows Between Us

Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you)
- I don't think I have an answer for this, but I will probably look into more books by Emiko Jean

Newest favourite character.
- Way too tough of a question!

Book that made you cry.
- The short-story Story of Your Life was definitely emotion packed, partly also since I read it after seeing - and loving - the movie

Book that made you happy.
- I listened to Pygmalion and Importance of Being Earnest from Audible, and they pack a laugh

Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received)
- I don't believe I've bought or received any physical books this year, so the most beautiful audiobook cover I've bought this year are the Harry Potter books - maybe

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
- The Heart Principle and My Contrary Mary

Favourite video or post you've done so far this year.
- Not sure!

Favourite book community members.
- I've been loving Kayla's videos on Books and Lala, where I also saw this Tag done

Mid Year Book Freak Out TAG

I wasn't planning on doing this tag this year since I've only read 12 books - of which none were 5 stars for me! But I thought that this, looking back and forwards, might work as a push to maybe read a bit more.

Also funnily enough, it turns out I've been doing this every other year. 2016 link & 2018 link and here it is again since we're a bit over the halfway mark again.

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2018.
I've given two books 4.5 stars so far; Turn of the Key and The Guest List.
Which is surprising, since I wouldn't think that crime would be my favorite genre this year.
2. Best sequel you've read so far in 2018.
I haven't read any! My Calamity Jane and Come Tumbling Down are high on my list though!
3. New release you haven't read yet, but want to.
From ARCs I have and haven't gotten to yet; Faith and Burn
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year. Bookish and the Beast, One by One, Instant Karma, A Sky Beyond the Storm are all on my list

5. Biggest disappointment. Maybe Lady Susan? It wasn't bad (I gave it 3 stars), but especially comparing to Pride and Prejudice and Emma I was disappointed.

6. Biggest surprise. I think this goes back to my answer for the first question.

7. Favorite new author.(Debut or new to you) I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from Ruth Ware! With adult crime though, at the same time I know it could either go really well or, well, not.

8. Newest fictional crush. I don't really get fictional crushes, more like I really love a good relationship dynamic. And oddly enough, the only "romance" books I've read this year have been Persuasion and Lady Susan. Maybe I should pick up a contemporary book next.
Also something to mention, I enjoyed the relationships in the book Hawk.

9. Newest favorite character. I really don't think I have one!

10. Book that made you cry. None, I don't think

11. Book that made you happy. Book Love was definitely a cute one

12. Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received) I haven't bough a single book! Well I guess I did, but it's a cookbook so does it count?
I've had this bucket list dream of cooking every single thing in a cookbook and I finally found one I wanted to go with; Magnolia Table. And it is gorgeous!

13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
I went back to my post in January of anticipated reads, and I haven't read any! 4 out of the 6 2020 releases have already been released, yet I haven't read them.

Mid Year Book Freak Out TAG

I've done this tag before, and here it is again since we're slightly over the halfway mark again.
2016 link

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2018.
My Plain Jane
2. Best sequel you've read so far in 2018.
A Reaper at the Gates
3. New release you haven't read yet, but want to.
Sea Witch
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year. Archenemies

5. Biggest disappointment. So not the lowest rating but one I had high hopes for - There's Someone Inside Your House

6. Biggest surprise. Again not the highest rating, but was surprising - To Kill a Kingdom

7. Favorite new author.(Debut or new to you) Helen Hoang (Kiss Quotient)

8. Newest fictional crush. Hm, I have no idea

9. Newest favourite character. Again, no idea

10. Book that made you cry. None, I don't think

11. Book that made you happy. My Plain Jane

12. Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received) Jane Eyre from the classic lines collection

13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
I've done really well with reading all the books I've bought before this year (I have posts about that system) and the only two I have left are: The Idiot Brain and The Season of You and Me

Summer is Over

[Book Tag]

School started this week for me, which means my reading rythm will change. Also usually I tend to gravitate towards more contemporary books in the summer season which might change now that we are moving towards fall.
So I decided to do this tag that I came across for the end of the summer season.

1-How many books did you read this summer?
Unfortunately I haven't been reading that much this summer, or well the whole year, so my total for May-August is 6+2+7+3

2-If you took a trip, did you take books along with you and what are they?
The only trips I made (longer than a day) were to the family summer house by the lake and there I read:  I See London I See France, This is How it Happened, Changes in Latitudes, Flame in the Mist & Dream On. - So lots of contemporary and a couple fantasy ones.

3-Did you read any series/trilogies over the summer?
I made it into a goal to finish as many series as I could and so I'll list the ones I finished:
All Fall Down, Naturals, Silver, Anomaly
(So what's left of those on my shelves is Snow Like Ashes and the Kiss of Deception)

4-Did you read any books set during the summertime?
Yes pleanty, like I said I like to read contemporary and romance books during the summer season and lots of those fittingly have a summery setting to them.

5-What book(s) did you want to read but didn't have time for?
The ones I mentioned for series I want to finish in Q3 and also some others:
The Idiot Brain, the Season of You & Me and I was also wishing on reading more classics.

6-Did you accomplish any book related goals?
I finished some from the yearly challenge list (link)
Also my goal of keeping my TBR small and not buying that many more - which I think I succeeded in, and even had an unhaul (link)
As for reading a classic per month - that didn't go well.

7-What was your favorite place to get comfy and read?
My bed. Haven't really been reading anywhere else lately...

8-What particular genre did you read most?
July was the only month in which I read something other than contemporary the most (it being 14% contemporary and 29% of crime and 29% of fantasy).
But overall definitely contemporary

9-What was your absolute favorite thing to read all summer?
Surprisingly I have an asnwer for this - My Lady Jane. It was one of the few 5 star reads and I was just so positively suprised by it

10-Are you happy or sad summer is coming to its end?
Bit of both. I started at a new school which I was so looking forward to, but at the same time who wouldn't miss having a vacation?

I decided that I won't continue the Around the World in 52 books challenge, but for anyone interested here is The 2017 List: link
